Signs and Symptoms of Stroke to be Topic of Presentation
May 06, 2008
A stroke occurs once each minute in the United States. Would you or your loved ones know how to recognize one and what to do about it?
Your ability to quickly identify the often subtle signs of stroke is the key to getting the right care at the right time to prevent the negative, long-term effects that stroke can cause.
Middlesex Hospital Paramedic Brad Fowler will discuss the signs and symptoms of stroke during a special presentation at the Hospital on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the North One Conference Room on the first floor.
During the presentation, he will discuss:
- How often strokes occur and their impact
- Who is at greatest risk of suffering a stroke
- Causes and types of strokes
- How to recognize stroke signs and symptoms and the importance of recognizing them early
- Available treatments to reverse the side effects of stroke
The talk is a free, community awareness event, sponsored by Middlesex Hospital and its paramedic program, in conjunction with Stroke Awareness Month. For more information and to register, call (860) 358-6440.
