Cancer Center Hosts Healthy Cooking Class

August 07, 2007

The Middlesex Hospital Cancer is sponsoring a free, introductory healthy cooking class, entitled “Planning Healthy Meals,” on Monday, September 10, 2007, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in atrium of the Cancer Center at 536 Saybrook Road, Middletown.

Numerous studies have shown that a diet built from plant foods offers the most cancer-fighting protection of any diet plan. Planning nutritious, delicious and filling meals can be tricky. The “Planning Healthy Meals” class will explain and demonstrate how to best plan and prepare well-balanced meals from the “new four food groups,” which include healthy whole grains, legumes, vegetables, and fruit.

The class is being offered in cooperation with The Cancer Project, a collaborative effort of physicians, researchers and nutritionists who have joined together to educate individuals, families, and the public on the benefits of a healthy diet for cancer prevention and survival.

The class is open to the public, but registration is required and space is limited. For more information and to register, call (860) 358-2088.
