Service Hours
Our Occupational Medicine offices are open Monday - Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm for treatment of work-related injuries or illnesses and for follow-up care. We also offer a variety of screening and surveillance services, such as:
- Urine Drug Testing
- Post-offer Physical Exams
- Disability Exams
- Exposure Evaluations
- Independent Medical Exams
- Fitness for Duty Exams
- FAA and DOT Exams
We refer many of our clients to other Middlesex Hospital services, such as radiology and rehabilitation services. Many patients are referred to other specialists, such as orthopedists and ophthalmologists, as well as surgeons.
On-site services and educational seminars are also available.
On-Site Services
Many of our clients have chosen to offer on-site physical examinations for their employees, as well as immunizations, including tuberculosis testing and hepatitis vaccines.
If you require attention to a specific issue in your workplace, our staff members can also provide expert guidance on the following at your location:
- Ergonomic issues
- Workplace safety
- Noise levels
- Air quality problems
- Higher than usual injury rate
- Communicable diseases
Educational Services
The Middlesex Hospital Occupational Medicine Program provides seminars for employers or designees on a variety of subjects, workers’ compensation, drug testing, communicable diseases and indoor air quality. The programs are free and are offered at a central location.
Worker’s Compensation
We treat both the initial injury and provide ongoing injury management.
Immunization Programs
We can provide flu shots, tetanus and Hepatitis B vaccinations.
Drug Screening Services
We offer both breath alcohol testing and urine drug screening with NIDA- or SAMSHA-approved testing facilities and 5- or 10-panel testing.
Post-offer Physical Exam
Performed at the time an offer of employment is made, this ensures the applicant’s ability to perform essential job functions in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Fitness for Duty Exam
Determines a worker’s current health status as it relates to his or her ability to safely perform a job at their existing level or with accommodations.
Surveillance Exam
Testing can be performed for workers who are regularly exposed to lead or asbestos, etc. or who may be exposed to tuberculosis.
Hearing Loss Prevention Programs
We can test noise levels to ensure work environment is in compliance with OSHA regulations.
Industry-specific Examinations:
Department of Transportation Exam
Required at least every two years to ensure the ability of all commercial drivers to perform their duties in accordance with federal regulations of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Federal Aviation Administration Exam
Conducted by a senior FAA examiner, initial and periodic exams are available to both recreational and commercial pilots.
