Patient Safety

There is an extensive patient safety program in place at Middlesex Hospital, one that is constantly being enhanced to create the highest level of patient safety possible. Some highlights include:

• Patient safety “champions”, who monitor the patient safety program on an ongoing basis. Recommendations have resulted in many safety improvements for patients and staff.
• Patient safety executive “walkarounds” enable hospital administrators to regularly visit with employees to discuss any potential patient safety issues or problems.
• The Middlesex Hospital “Great Save” Program formally and publicly rewards employees who go “beyond the call of duty” to prevent a medical error or mistake before it happens.
• A Patient Safety “Hotline” that can be utilized by staff to communicate a “Great Save” or identify a potential patient safety hazard.
