Cancer Rehabilitation

For many cancer patients, the side effects of treatment be as challenging as fighting the disease itself. Our specially-trained therapists work as a team with physicians, surgeons, oncologists and radiation oncologists to help patients better manage side effects, decrease fatigue and improve their ability to handle daily tasks with less pain. Specialties include:
  • Lymphedema management – This program uses specialized massage techniques and exercise to help treat the pain and swelling that often accompanies cancer treatment or surgery.
  • “Recovery in Motion” Program – This combination of exercise and treatment can help individuals who have undergone a lymph node dissection or mastectomy, regain range of motion and increase energy levels to participate in daily activities.
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation – This individualized exercise program focuses on improving a patient’s ability to tolerate activities with less shortness of breath and fatigue.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Whether you are living with breathing problems as a result of lung diseases — such as COPD, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, or lung cancer — or are recovering from lung surgery, we can teach you techniques and strategies to help reduce your shortness of breath and the anxiety it brings.

A physical therapist will evaluate your condition, ask you about your breathing problems and develop a treatment plan for your individual needs. Once the plan is sent to your doctor, you and your therapist will strategize on how you might achieve your goals.

For information, ask your doctor for a prescription for pulmonary rehabilitation.
